GILDED glamour and white tie was the dress code of the day at the 2022 Met Gala on Monday 2nd May. Stars including Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, Billie Eilish, Hillary Clinton and Cardi B descended on the Met Museum in New York city to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition In America: An Anthology of Fashion, with Blake Lively stealing the show in a statement gown by Atelier Versace – which transformed to reveal a blue train – and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

The Met Gala has a long history of memorable fashion moments and Metrocentre Gateshead has compiled the ultimate style guide to help shoppers recreate some of the must-try styles snapped on the red carpet last night.

Gilded Glamour

From Cardi B positively dripping in gold Versace to Kim Kardashian stepping out in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic embellished gold number, diamonds really were a girl’s best friend. This Mori Lee Prom (47017) Spring 2022 gown available from Paris Dress House is giving us serious gilded glamour vibes. With a sparkling fit and flare prom dress featuring all over botanical, patterned glitter on a one-shoulder neckline and unique, strappy back detail and sheer skirt, this gown needs an event all of its own.

Top and Tailoring

Bradley Cooper chose the 1920s while Succession’s Kieran Culkin paired his tux with a pair of basketball shoes, perfect for dancing the night away. But Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi went for an all-black suit, showing again that this look never goes out of style. Run, don’t walk, to pick up your perfect black suit from Moss Bros. You’ll find fits that channel the classic-meets-contemporary theme and high-quality fabrics that look as good as they feel.

Red all about it

Gigi Hadid stepped out on the unseasonably chilly red carpet wearing an oversized red Versace puffer coat, burgundy corset and matching latex trousers and boots. You can have your own lady in red moment by stepping out in style in these flared burgundy heeled boots from Schuh. We think these would definitely be Gigi approved.

Flutes you!

Lizzo shut down the red carpet by pairing her gold embellished cape dress with a rare $55,000 flute. Lizzo stepped inside after an impromptu performance on the steps (which looked tricky with her long black and gold nails!), trailed by a long coat covered in striking gold flowers.

If Lizzo’s musical look has inspired to you to pick up an instrument, JG Windows has a range of flutes available starting at £179 and if that is a bit much, you can still nail the black and gold look with a manicure from Cover Beauty.
