Title: Building Services Mechanical Engineer
Location: Metrocentre
Position Type: Full-Time (40 Hours Per Week)

Salary: £41,319

Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Technical Services Team Leader, the Maintenance Engineer will work closely with all departments to deliver planned preventative maintenance, respond to repair needs, and assist with general property maintenance. This role involves working with mechanical, electrical, and fabric plant and equipment, as well as supporting promotional campaigns. The goal is to exceed customer expectations while consistently upholding the core values of the Metrocentre Management Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance in line with the SFG20 specification and the annual maintenance programme.
  • Ensure engineering standards are met to maximise the operational effectiveness and reliability of plant and associated systems.
  • Adhere to company QA and site procedures in all aspects of work.
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times and ensure compliance with company and site policies.
  • Maintain accurate site records and documentation for all works carried out.
  • Inspect services and proactively handle call-outs and repairs as required by management.
  • Attend to site emergencies outside of regular working hours.
  • Carry out tasks within plant room environments and at high levels, working from platforms and ladders.
  • Maintain all company-issued tools in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Work proactively to support the continued success of the contract with a positive approach.
  • Complete any other tasks as requested by management.
  • Weekend working on a rota basis is required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Extensive knowledge of building services, with the ability to fault-find and resolve issues.
  • Strong judgment and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a maintenance environment as part of a team.
  • Competent knowledge of building services including fire sprinkler systems, BMS, mains switchgear, air handling units, heating and ventilation, pumps, calorifiers, CWS, and HWS systems.
  • Experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
  • Knowledge of water treatment regimes.
  • Health and safety training and awareness.
  • Familiarity with generators and sprinkler systems.

Desirable:

  • Health & Safety qualification.
  • Industrial Gas Safe qualification.
  • Knowledge of pump types and basic plumbing skills.
  • Proven team-working experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • GCSEs in Math’s and English or equivalent.
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS).
  • Electrically competent with basic fault diagnostics on controls.

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours per week, including early, day, and late shifts on a rota basis.
