Job Summary: We are seeking a committed and diligent Venue Cleaner to join our brand new team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across various sectors of Peppa Pig Surprise Party venue, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff alike. This includes overseeing maintenance and cleanliness in Back of House areas such as staff kitchen, office spaces, green rooms, corridors and staircases; as well as Front of House areas consisting of the Immersive Theatre Experience, Private Party spaces, and Retail and Food and Beverage Points. This is a vital role within the structure of Gateshead's newest Immersive Experience based on the popular TV show and will be a very exciting opportunity to be a part of. Key Responsibilities Applicants will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in multiple areas characterised by different needs, with the main part being a busy, family-focused venue, thus we require adaptability and strong attention to health & safety procedures.
Immersive Theatre Venue:
- Support event changeovers and resets of immersive spaces between sessions while respecting set pieces and props
- Respond quickly to hygiene hazards, and report them accordingly to the management
- Report any damage to scenic elements and fixtures
Private Party spaces:
- Clean and reset party rooms between bookings, including floors, tables, and seating
- Ensure rooms are fully prepared for the next group within required turnaround times
- Dispose of waste and replenish basic consumables as needed
Retail point:
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of retail counters, shelving, windows, and customer-facing areas
- Ensure floors, glass surfaces and high-touch surfaces are kept clean throughout operating hours
- Report spillages, damage, or maintenance issues promptly
Food and Beverage:
- Clean and sanitise food and drink service areas in line with hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness of counters, preparation areas, and surrounding floors
- Dispose of waste correctly and report hygiene or maintenance concerns immediately Staff Room and Kitchen
- Clean and sanitise food preparation surfaces, sink, appliances, and floors in line with hygiene standards
- Empty bins and dispose of waste correctly, ensuring recycling procedures are followed
- Replenish cleaning supplies and report any hygiene or maintenance issues Green Rooms
- Clean and reset green rooms between uses, including seating areas, mirrors and floors
- Ensure the space is welcoming and presentable for performers and staff
- Monitor cleanliness throughout the day and address issues as required Office Spaces
- Maintain cleanliness of desks, shared surfaces, floors, and waste points
- Ensure offices remain tidy, presentable, and suitable for daily operational use
- Report damage, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to management Corridors and Staircases
- Maintain clean and hazard-free walkways, including floors, handrails, and edges
- Respond promptly to spillages or debris to ensure safe access routes
- Carry out regular checks during operating hours, particularly during busy periods Public Toilets
- Clean and sanitise all cubicles, urinals, sinks, floors, and touchpoints to maintain high hygiene standards
- Replenish consumables such as toilet paper, soap, and hand towels throughout operating hours
- Carry out regular checks and address spillages, blockages, or hygiene issues promptly, reporting maintenance concerns as needed Baby Changing Room
- Clean and disinfect baby changing units, bins, floors, and surrounding surfaces regularly
- Ensure the space is kept hygienic, safe, and welcoming for families at all times
- Dispose of waste correctly and report any maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly
This position will be shared across multiple staff members, requiring regular task tracking and monitoring completion of daily maintenance checks as handovers will be necessary to ensure that all areas are properly maintained.
Health and Safety / Training
This role may require you to have First Aid at Work and/or Fire Marshal certificates. Should this be required any training will be given. An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role. This too can be attained via the company, but all employees will have to be checked as we work with children. Any training for the role will be given. Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent
- Prior experience in a commercial cleaning setting
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Reliable, punctual and proactive Salary: £12.50 per hour. Contract: We are hiring a mix of minimum hour contracts, depending on numbers and schedules. But a minimum shift will need to be guaranteed on both sides.
